Each trail is a unique opportunity to connect with the nature that dwells within us. I am Vinício Borges, an active visitor guide in the Vale do Pati for over 15 years. I have connected hundreds of lives from various parts of the world, with different expectations, to this valley. This is an opportunity to support local communities and be part of the sustainable tourism movement.
The Pati Valley, in the heart of the Chapada Diamantina National Park, Bahia, enchants with its trails through dense forests, vast rocky fields, refreshing streams, breathtaking lookouts, and hidden waterfalls. Every step reveals a new surprise from nature, amidst silence and the unique sounds, movements, and wildlife of the area. No motorized vehicle enters the Pati, with access made solely through its trails. Today, visitors from Brazil and around the world explore these paths, marveling at the imposing rock formations and absorbing the unique energy that permeates the sacred soil of the valley.
The Pati Valley offers versatile trails, suitable for treks ranging from 3 to 7 days. It is recommended for both experienced trail visitors and beginners. This includes those seeking mental rest, with nature walks, waterfall baths, and meditation, without high levels of physical effort.
Walking through the winding trails reveals panoramic views that seem like living paintings. Every step is a discovery, as you marvel at the grandeur and lushness of the place. Upon entering the Pati Valley, you will be immersed in a unique experience.
You will have the chance to meet the local community, learn about their traditions and way of life. By choosing sustainable tourism, you directly contribute to economic development, environmental preservation, and social and cultural interaction.
If you are in search of a connection with nature and wish to support local communities, book your trip to this destination that awakens the adventurous soul and offers an authentic experience. Get ready to be enchanted and create unforgettable memories in this haven of breathtaking natural beauty.

There are several ways to get to the Pati Valley and Chapada Diamantina:
By Bus: The most common and inexpensive way is by bus from Salvador. There are three daily buses from Salvador to Palmeiras and vice versa. The journey usually takes about 7 hours. If you're short on time, there's an overnight bus that arrives just in time for the day of the hike. Bus: Salvador - Palmeiras. Viação Rápido Federal
By Plane: The most convenient way to reach Chapada Diamantina is to fly directly to Lençóis. Look for flights to "Lençóis Airport" (Lençóis Airport - LEC). Currently, flights are operated by Azul Linhas Aéreas and GOL. Azul flies from Belo Horizonte on Thursdays and Sundays, while GOL flies from Salvador on Wednesdays and Sundays. From Lençóis airport, you'll need to arrange a transfer to Palmeiras.
From Palmeiras, a transfer (included in the package) will be necessary to take you to where we start and end our journey in the district of Guiné.
Of course! I can accommodate a variety of dietary restrictions, including vegan diets and specific food allergies. Please inform me of your needs when making the reservation, so I can ensure your requirements are perfectly met.
The Pati Valley is a year-round destination, offering varied experiences by season. The Dry Season (May to October) provides blue skies and cooler weather, especially in the colder months of June and July; however, the waterfalls may not be as full. The rainy season (November to April) features lush vegetation and flowing waterfalls. Peak visitation occurs in January, July, and national holidays.
During the trek in the Pati Valley, in the Chapada Diamantina National Park, accommodations mainly consist of modest stays in houses operated by local residents. These establishments offer essential amenities, including comfortable beds and shared bathrooms. Although the environments are rustic, they showcase the genuine hospitality of the community.
At breakfast and dinner in the Pati Valley, guests are treated to delicious homemade meals, including a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. For lunch, our guides prepare delicious picnics tailored to our guests' dietary needs.

We start the trail by climbing the Aleixos and then cross the Gerais do Rio Preto. After 3 hours of walking, enjoying the view with the highest peaks of PNCD, we reach the Pati viewpoint with a picturesque representation of this breathtaking Valley. Here you receive explanations about the paths we will take in the next few days. After enjoying the spectacular views, we head towards the beautiful waterfalls of Rio Pati. Descending the river, we pass by 2 waterfalls, a perfect setting to satisfy hunger with a delicious snack prepared by me right there on the spot. In this circuit, it will be a day of waterfalls to enjoy more of the sun, hydro massages, and contemplate the scenery. We head to the support house at the end of the afternoon.
After breakfast, we begin the steep ascent of Morro do Castelo, amidst the preserved Atlantic forest. It takes us about 2 hours to reach the entrance of the Lapinha cave. We cross a small section inside the cave, where we access the viewpoints with a beautiful view of the Calixto River Valley and the Vieira Gerais.
We descend along the same path and head to the second overnight house. Most of the time there is still time for a waterfall bath (small but very nice) near the house.
We leave early towards the "Cachoeirão por cima" (Waterfall from above), through one of the coolest trails in Pati, where there is a lot of floral diversity. It will be the day that demands more physical conditioning from us, but we are rewarded with a breathtaking view, literally. After 4 hours of trail, we reach the "Cachoeirão por cima". We enjoy the scenery, rest, and have a snack. Afterwards, we head back to where we started, but by another trail. This way, we make a circuit repeating only the first hour of the trail.
Breakfast on the first day and dinner on the last day.

The most popular choice is the trail that leads to Cachoeira do Rio Calixto, where you will find challenge, sweat, and a beautiful waterfall in the midst of the Atlantic Forest. This less-traveled trail in Vale do Pati offers an incredible mix of ascents and descents through a forest filled with large trees, providing an unexpected encounter. In the end, you will be rewarded with an impressive waterfall formed by beautiful cascades that create a delightful bathing pool.
If you feel like having a peaceful day on your trek in Vale do Pati, Poço da Árvore is the place for you. It offers a natural pool and waterfalls, all surrounded by lush vegetation and a beautiful view of Morro do Castelo.
